This spring, Team Malizia celebrates 10 years of racing, adventure and team spirit. A decade defined by bold choices, purpose and the ambition to do things differently. To mark the occasion and as we soon open a new chapter with a new boat, the team is releasing “Unconventional - A sailing team challenging the norm”, a documentary retracing the story, vision and spirit that shaped Team Malizia into one of offshore racing’s most distinctive teams.

Ahead of the launch of our new IMOCA racing boat, Team Malizia is somewhat returning to its roots. Over the past weeks, we refitted, re-launched and went back on the water with Malizia 1, the GC32 foiling catamaran that started it all back in 2016, for a bit of training (and lots of fun).

The educational programme My Ocean Challenge and UNICEF Germany are joining forces once again to host an educational event in the Deichtorhallen Hamburg, following last year’s success, which engaged over 2000 children both online and in person. The aim of this interactive lesson is to educate children about the Ocean, climate change and children’s rights and inspire hope in order for them to be empowered to take action themselves.

The educational programme My Ocean Challenge, UNICEF Germany and Deichtorhallen, Hamburg once again join forces to host a live educational event at the Deichtorhallen. Taking place on World Oceans Day, the 8th of June, the event will be delivered in a live hybrid format, streamed directly from the Deichtorhallen and open to classes joining both in person and online from around the world. Children aged 8-14 are invited to explore the oceans, climate change, and children’s rights and to be inspired and empowered to take action themselves.

Team Malizia is proud to unveil its crew for The Ocean Race Atlantic, a new transatlantic race for the IMOCA class, starting on 1 September 2026. Skipper Boris Herrmann (GER) will be joined by co-skippers Cole Brauer (USA), Justine Mettraux (SUI), Julien Villion (FRA), and onboard reporter Gauthier Lebec (FRA). The race from New York City to Lorient will mark the team’s first competition aboard its new IMOCA yacht and reflects its long-term vision of building a strong and diverse sailing squad for The Ocean Race next year.
