For the past few days, there have been some changes in the Vendée Globe fleet. Boris has moved up to 8th place after holding steady in 10th for quite some time. Yet, while we fixate on tracking the positions of 36 remaining boats as they shuffle through the rankings, it’s easy to forget about the incredible natural movements taking place in the same waters. Hi everyone,
Sending you greetings from the middle of the Australian night.
It’s very dark and in only a few hours I’ll have the blue morning light coming up.
One big sail change soon.
It feels like movement on the chess field after a long steady section.
Only 80 miles to the winner of the last Vendee.
And other good news:
We had been second fastest Indian Ocean crossing (cape to cape).
Early in the week we’ll have a big storm.
Only 13-14 days to the horn. Amazing how quick it goes. Time can be so relative

This Thursday afternoon, Boris Herrmann crossed the longitude of Cape Leeuwin at 16:22 UTC after 32 days, 4 hours, 20 minutes, and 54 seconds of racing in his second Vendée Globe. Having passed the second of the race's three major capes in 10th place, the Team Malizia skipper celebrates this milestone while keeping his sights set on reaching his favorite cape, Cape Horn, by January 1st.
